[dropcap2]A[/dropcap2]bility to change perceptual positions is one of the most fascinating topic over modern psychology. It gives us opportunity to see things from the other point of view. Let’s just briefly have a look inside to this subject.
“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” – Albert Einstein.
Lets have a look on each of the perceptual positions.

It’s the only one where You observe from Your own point of view. We call this: full association. You feel, see, and listen exactly 100% in Your body. You use this position when You try to reminiscence something emotional or when You are trying to imagine future events.

It’s a key to have a great communication. To be in somebody’s shoes. You can literally see yourself from the other’s perspective. My conversation’s quality blasted off immediately.

Observer’s position as a independent man outside of conversation. This skill is great for conflicts solving or for issues where You need kind of lukewarm. Just imagine Yourself between You and other person during chat.

Wider perspective as a system or a large group (couple of people or a whole nation). This is great if You need a skills in a public speeches area.
[icon image=”music” size=”small” cont=”no” float=”left”]Fifth position.
You observe from the universal point of view. If I have to set up my goals this is the right position. Have You ever thinking about what influence Your dream or goal might have on the universe? If not, think about it.

Perceptual in practice:

You can use this exercise in order to some past events as well as for future events which never happened (yet:):
Step 1. Be in first position. use Your eyes to see what is going on. How You feel, think and receive informations during the event. What are Your beliefs, values, goals.
Step 2. Move to the second position. Place Yourself at the other person’s site. Imagine You are him/her. What You feel? Do You see something?
Step 3. No third position. Now You can observe from the outside both persons. Determine relation between two persons You are observing. Any similarities, maybe differences? What would You say to them from observer’s point of view?
Step 4. Repeat steps from 1 to 3.
Step 5. Go back to Your first position.
Any conclusions? 🙂 Have Fun!

During my public performances I always try to place myself on an individual person’s point of view (second position) as well as on audition’s position (fourth position). This is very effective technique.
